Synthesis and device fabrication:
First and foremost, we make molecules!
We focus on compounds that can coordinate f-block elements. We use macrocycles and polydentate inorganic structures to immobilize cations so that we can study their photophysical properties.
We also fabricate devices that are capable of visualizing the luminescence from our compounds using low-cost and accessible materials.
Some of the drive to do this is so that anyone can replicate our experiments either at home or at other institutions.
We use Shrinky Dinks, pencil leads, raspberry pi computers, LEGO and other affordable items in our devices.
